Steve Grizell is a 20-year veteran in entrepreneurship, finance, innovation and economic development. His experience began in the mid-1980s when he consulted for the World Bank and U.S. Agency for International Development. To date, Steve has been directly responsible for more than 200 transactions, the majority involving technology-based companies. He maintains regular communication with some of the more significant companies in which he has invested, which provides a wealth of experience on matters such as fund raising, board formation and personnel recruitment. Steve is Chairman of the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds (NASVF) and serves on the boards of the Wasatch Venture Fund, MountainWest Venture Group and Utah Valley Entrepreneur Forum. Steve has consulted around the world in countries such as Romania, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. He holds an MBA from the University of Utah, a Masters of Computer Applications in Education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and a BS in Anthropology from Michigan State. Steve speeaks Indonesian and is an avid skier.
Damon Kirchmeier joined UTFC in 1997. Since that time, he has made more than 40 different investments and actively participates on 12 corporate boards. Damon has shown strong abilities to guide companies' financial strategy and adds substantial strength to their corporate governance. He is a close advisor and sounding board for growing companies with access to the resources that new companies need. Damon is a frequent speaker on raising capital and is an active participant in several business and venture forums. Damon began his career in 1988 at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory. Mr. Kirchmeier served as a nuclear plant engineer and later managed a crew of Naval personnel and civilian engineers at a dual reactor plant. He also managed the support division of an international exploratory drilling company before joining UTFC. Damon holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University and an MBA from the University of Utah. He is also a graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida. Damon was the 2003 silver medalist in the Masters World Championships of mountain biking in Bromont, Canada and is an accomplished skier.
Scott Stenberg joined UTFC in 1997 as controller and now serves as CFO. He helps assess the credit worthiness of small businesses and advise portfolio companies on their accounting processes. He began his career working in a public accounting firm, where he assisted small businesses through audits and other accounting procedures. From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Stenberg worked as an internal auditor for the University of Utah. Scott graduated from Weber State University with a Master of Professional Accountancy in 1987.
Robert Lund graduated from J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, 1996 with his Juris Doctor Degree. From 1997 to the start of UTFC, Mr. Lund was employed by Utah Technology Finance Corporation; first as (Special Projects Manager) supervising and writing policies and handbooks and then as (In-House Legal Counsel) beginning in 1999. Mr. Lund continues to assist in the many legal matters associated with lending to small businesses including Uniform Commercial Code in both transactional and litigation matters, particularly in the areas of secured lending and contracts.
Melissa "Missy" Packer started with UTFC as a receptionist in September of 1998, and then was promoted to Administrative Assistant in August 1999. Missy, a former business owner and founding Director of Boogie Down Productions, knows the struggles of starting and running a successful business in Utah. |
